celebrate recovery

The Southwest Church is dedicated to the compassionate ministry of Jesus in seeking healing for the whole person. Celebrate Recovery is a ministry of the Church committed to helping you with any hurt, habit or hang up that may be disrupting your life.

You are welcomed as you are! Some who come are believers and some are not. Some come for healing for themselves or others. Whatever your reason for coming we want you to know that you will find a safe and welcoming place at Celebrate Recovery.

One very important component in the program is our Celebration Station which is a ministry for children from ages 5 to twelve years old. Often our children have their own hurts, habits and hang ups and need a safe and loving place to be able to play out their feelings and find healing.

Started by Rick Warren and John Baker 20 years ago at the Saddleback Church, this ministry has spread all over the world. Celebrate Recovery is a Bible based, Christ centered program of healing, not just from drug addiction and co-dependency but from all addictions, hurts and other hang ups that interfere with your relationship with God and others.

We believe that a meal together is important. Eating together is one way that the early Church stayed committed in love to one another and so every Celebrate Recovery begins with an opportunity to eat and fellowship with one another.

We also recognize that many of us are in a great deal of pain when we come to Celebrate Recovery and so we begin our large group after dinner with a period of worship and praise. Many of us have experienced God’s healing in a very powerful way through the worship alone. Our large group always either includes a testimony or lesson on a step or principle from the Bible that is crucial to our healing.

After our large group you are invited to stay for a small group divided into men and women and specific to your hurt, habit or hang up. You may share in small group if you wish or just listen.

For those committed to serious change in your life another opportunity is afforded to attend a step study during which you are guided through the 12 steps and 8 Biblical principles which are a crucial part in real healing and growth!
